Primary School Careers Fair

I was asked to support a primary school careers fair last month, and I must admit my first thought was ‘ how am I going to find the time and how am I going to engage year 6 children in the world of design, print and manufacturing’.

I need not have worried, we had a great time.  I don’t like to brag, but…  my table was pretty popular, well, I mean it did have sweets in branded packaging, thank you Coronation Confectionary – we all love a giveaway, children and adults! We engaged in a bit of healthy competition of box constructing and gluing, I was the clear winner, of course!

What I didn’t expect from the experience was the sense achievement and joy, I had such a good time.

We often offer opportunities for work experience here at Hesketh, but there was something different about being out in the community and spending that concentrated time with the children and answering their millions of questions.

I hope I was able to ignite a passion and an awareness of the different roles within our industry as they did mine for supporting where I can and giving back to our fabulous community.
